Stephen D. Rycyna, MD is a Board Certified Orthopaedic Surgeon who specializes in general Orthopaedics and sports medicine. At Invision Health he has an office-based orthopaedic practice and sees patients for upper extremity problems pertaining to the shoulder, elbow, wrist and hand. He sees lower extremity problems pertaining to the hip, knee, ankle and foot.
Dr. Rycyna is a cum-laude graduate of the University of Notre Dame. After graduating from Notre Dame with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Pre-Professional Studies, he went on to graduate from Loyola University Stritch School of Medicine in Chicago, Illinois. Following graduation from medical school, he completed a rotating internship at Presbyterian Medical Center in San Francisco, California. He then returned to Buffalo where he completed his surgical subspecialty residency in Orthopaedic Surgery at SUNY @ Buffalo. After successfully completing his surgical subspecialty residency in Orthopaedic Surgery at SUNY @ Buffalo, he began private practice in WNY.
In addition to seeing patients at Invision Health, Dr. Rycyna is the Medical Director for The Ideal You Weight Loss Center with offices in Clarence, Tonawanda and West Seneca. He is the former team doctor for the following high schools: Tonawanda, Lockport and St. Joe’s Collegiate High School. Dr. Rycyna was also the team doctor for the Buffalo Bandits for 13 years. He served as the Medical Director for the Buffalo Marathon and the World University Games in Buffalo, and was Medical Director for the 1980 and 1984 U.S. Olympic Marathon Trials. He was a member of the International Marathon Medical Directors Association and American Medical Jogger’s Association. Dr. Rycyna also served for two years on the Peer Review Committee for the Erie CountyMedial Society.
Currently, Dr. Rycyna is a member of the Erie County Medical Society, the New York State
Orthopaedic Society and the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS).
